Nreka Camaj was beloved by many. His death was a shock and tradgedy to all his family and friends. Born to Vasel Mirashi Camaj and Mrija (Lulgjuraj) Camaj on December 31, 1957 in Vuksanlekaj, Yugoslavia, now Montenegro. He was their only son. His father Vaseli died on Nreka's birthday,from cancer, which was coincedently on his own birthday, on December 31, 1988. Nreka leaves behind his 75 year old mother Mrija and four sisters; Hana (Camaj) Lulgjuraj , Lula (Camaj) Lucaj, Drane (Camaj) Shkreli and Tone (Camaj) Shkreli. He is also suceeded by his wife Lula(Ujkaj)Camaj(38) and three children: Nik Camaj(18), Luviq Camaj(16) and Rozanna Camaj(10). He also leaves his dog Tina e babit who went everywhere with him. Nrek Vaseli Camaj was a son, a brother, a husband, an uncle, a cousin, a friend and above all, a father to the three most beautiful children any person can ask for. Although many people share these same titles, Nreka gave them all a different meaning. His smile was contagious, his laugh warmed your soul, and his loud and cheery personality brightened every room he walked into. His life was all about love and respect for family and friends. Nreka was born very poor in VuksanLekaj. Yet his father Vaseli tried to instill in him that money is nothing without the joy of family. He came to America 20 years ago in the hope of living the dream of opportunity. His uncles Preka and Noshi along with his sisters and cousins welcomed him with open arms and helped him start a life in America with his mother Mrija and wife Lula. Lula gave him the three most amazing gifts of his life, Nicky, Luigi, and Rozana. He moved from state to state to try and find his place and the fact that he was unable to obtain proper documentation in this country made this very difficult. Nreka's heart ached after the loss of his home that him and his wife worked very hard to purchase in Detroit, Michigan. He uped and moved to protect and provide for his family and try and find a place again, to call home. We will never know or fully understand how difficult the pressures of life were for Nreka but I know God knows and I know that his mother now mourns so that he may not suffer anymore. I know his death may lead people to think otherwise but Nreka was not a selfish person by any means. He was the type of man that gave you the shirt off his back if you told him you liked it. As much as the death of Nrek Vaseli Camaj has broken our hearts, what if he never existed to impact our lives the way he has? The pain of losing him does not compare to the joy of having known him. His death leaves a heartache that no one can heal, but his love leaves many memories that no one can steal. His body was laid to rest at The Gates of Heaven Cemetary in Valhalla, NY, section 17.
